Alstead Couture | About Us

Robert Alstead opened a small chain of tailors shops for men and women in 1897 in the Wigan area. The Alstead family ran this well respected business until around 1960. As a great granddaughter of Robert, Jan Maddern thought it fitting to continue the family name and called her business Alstead Couture.

The Company was established in 1997, when the founder, Image Consultant Jan Maddern, recognised the need for top quality garments that could be worn under womens' business suits. She designed a range of bodysuits, some for this purpose, but others for less formal occasions. They have proven so successful that the bodysuit range has now been complemented with a new range of tops.
